Help — NameSignal
Effective Date: 2026-03-30 · Last Updated: 2026-03-30
NameSignal is operated by Marco Polo Research Lab LLC. The service helps you generate candidate brand names and run a preliminary automated naming-risk screen against current federal USPTO trademark records, public-company and domain signals from the enabled sources.
How the Service Works
- You describe a business, product, or project idea.
- NameSignal interprets your goods and services from that description. It asks a targeted question when a necessary fact is missing.
- The service uses an LLM to generate names and assess retrieved trademarks against your business.
- The app checks USPTO records, SEC EDGAR, DNS, and RDAP. It replaces rejected or incomplete candidates within your attempt limit.
Important Limitations
- NameSignal is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.
- Results are automated screening signals only. They are not a legal opinion, a registrability opinion, or a guarantee of non-infringement.
- Delivered names passed the enabled checks. The screen rank is not a probability of trademark approval.
- The automated trademark screen is limited to current federal USPTO records and does not comprehensively cover common-law rights or all state-only registrations.
- You remain responsible for final trademark clearance, filing strategy, specimens, classes, and any decision to adopt or use a mark.
Ownership Reminder
If you move forward with a trademark filing, the application should identify the actual owner of the mark. If a limited liability company owns and controls the mark, use the LLC as the owner rather than an individual name.
USPTO trademark records are public. Use business contact channels where appropriate instead of personal contact details when preparing a filing.
Account and Data Basics
NameSignal uses Google sign-in to authenticate accounts. We store submitted business descriptions, clarification answers, corrections, model interpretations, selected states, search settings, job history, generated results, and notification preferences needed to operate the service.
See the Privacy Policy for details about data use and sharing, and the Terms of Service for the rules that govern use of the service.
